From Richard Strauss to Duke Ellington and the Beatles, Carnegie Hall has hosted some of the most monumental musicians in history. And last week, Talia Sabelli of Swampscott and Paige Vigneron of Marblehead, students at Bishop Fenwick High School, were on that same stage.
Music students from Fenwick participated in the World Strides Heritage Elite Performance Series at Carnegie Hall with choral students from across the country as part of the prestigious National Youth Chorus. As a part of the Elite Performance Series, Festival at Carnegie Hall is specifically designed to demonstrate and celebrate the musical talent of the participating choral ensembles. Selected ensembles
must meet the highest standards to participate in Festival at Carnegie Hall. Choral groups must undergo a special audition process to be accepted into Festival at Carnegie Hall. This is Fenwick’s 2nd selection to the Festival in the past 4 years.
In addition, both Concert Choir and Jazz Band participated in a weekend-long national music competition at Riverside Church in New York City where they were awarded gold medals for their performances. In addition, Fenwick senior, pianist Janine Antonellis of Stoneham, was awarded the Maestro Award, given for an outstanding instrumental or vocal solo.
