Marblehead native Aylin Sert, 29, was recently named a 2012 TYLENOL Future Care Scholarship winner, an honor bestowed on only 40 students among many hopeful applicants each year. Future Care Scholars are selected based on leadership qualities, academic performance and community involvement.
Aylin is a first-year medical student with a robust background in social work. She has spent time as an AmeriCorps Fellow serving at-risk youth and making a direct impact on the lives of children from disadvantaged communities. While pursuing her Master’s Degree, she also interned as a high school social worker where she realized the crucial link between mental and physical health for adolescents. Aylin’s desire to become a primary physician was born. Upon graduation, Aylin hopes to work in an urban primary care clinic where she can serve as both a clinician and a social advocate for her patients.
Aylin hopes sharing her story will inspire others to apply for this life-changing scholarship. Now accepting applications for its 2013 program (through June 15, 2013), the makers of TYLENOL will award a total of $250,000 in scholarships to college students pursing a variety of healthcare related degrees. To be eligible, students must complete at least one year of undergraduate or graduate study by the Spring of 2013 at an accredited two or four year college, university or vocational / technical school.
