Marian Court College helps local prom-goers find their fairy-tale ending

SWAMPSCOTT— For the sixth year, Marian Court College is helping the dreams of local high school prom-goers come true.

The college has again teamed up with the North Shore Fairy Godmother Project to collect new and gently worn formal dresses and accessories to donate to financially disadvantaged high school students so they can attend their high school formal occasions in style. The North Shore Fairy Godmother Project is part of a national organization that has local outposts from the East to the West Coast, all working toward the same goal: to send Cinderella to the ball.

High school guidance counselors, class advisors, the Mass. Department of Social Services, Girls Inc. and other  organizations refer students to the project. They must be in good standing in high school and financially unable to purchase prom items in order to attend the shopping event. This year’s boutique will be held on April 6.

Anyone interested in donating formal wear or accessories, including purses, shoes and jewelry, can bring items to Marian Court, 35 Little’s Point Road, Swampscott, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Items will be collected through March 15.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and the local community to give back,” said Marian Court College President Dr. Denise Hammon.
