Animal Vandal Blamed for Invading, Trashing Marblehead Home

Excerpts from the Marblehead Police Department log.

Sunday, Jan. 18

At 12:30 p.m., a man called to report he returned from a weekend away to find ”a bunch of items smashed up” in his house. Police responded and reported that it appeared an animal had gotten into the home as there was animal urine and feces throughout the residence. Later, a woman called police to report they had found a “large squirrel or rat” in their cabinets. The animal control officer was paged.

At 9:18 p.m., a caller reported hearing a large explosion in the area of Cornell and Colgate roads. Police could not identify a source.

Monday, Jan. 19

At 11:07 a.m., a caller reported a window had been broken overnight and requested more police patrols of Beacon Street.

At 5:13 p.m., a person came into the police station to report the front book drop at the library was full.

At 9:19 p.m., a caller stated that an app revealed an iPhone stolen from her child was located in a house in Marblehead. She wanted to knock on the door of the home, but police advised her to wait for officers.
