Antje Duvekot and Chuck Cannon Play Split Bill in Marblehead
Boston's Antje Duvekot and Nashville's Chuck Cannon play a split bill at the me&thee coffeehouse in Marblehead. Great songwriters!

On Friday, November 18, Antje Duvekot and Chuck Cannon bring their outstanding talent to the me&theestage. Antje is a me&thee favorite; her songs provocative and personal and her tender and vulnerable voicing makes them all that much more riveting. Chuck Cannon is a Nashville musician who has written a multitude of hits for others – enough to warrant 25 million plays on the radio. This 8:00 show takes place at the coffeehouse which is located at the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Marblehead, 28 Mugford Street in Marblehead, MA.
Antje Duvekot has solidified her reputation as one of Boston’s top singer-songwriters. As the Boston Globe reports: “Her songs feel at once fresh faced and firmly rooted, driven by the whispery sensuality of her voice. She believes in the redemptive power of the shared secret; and is utterly unafraid to mine the darkest corners of her life for songs that turn fear into resilience and isolation into community.” Antje has won some of the top songwriting awards including the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, the prestigious Kerrville “Best New Folk Award” and in one of the national’s top music markets, she won the Boston Music Award for “Outstanding Folk Act. The release of Toward the Thunder, Antje’s fourth studio release has been much anticipated. The album centers around themes of courage and striving for something better. It features an impressive cast of folk royalty from Shawn Mullins to Anais Mitchell, Liz Longley, John Gorka, Martyn Joseph to Kris Delmhorst and Richard Shindell. In addition to nine new Duvekot originals and the traditional tune “The Parting Glass,” the album includes a Dar Williams cover, “The Light and the Sea.”
Chuck Cannon has an impressive history of music making. He grew up in South Carolina but it wasn’t until he moved to Nashville that he began to take music seriously and the songs started to come and haven’t stopped since. His music echoes rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and gospel music. His songs have been recorded by an incredibly diverse array of mega-stars from around the world including Toby Keith, John Michael Montgomery, Lari White, Wyona Judd, George Strait, Shawn Mullins and many more. His critically acclaimed solo projects, God Shaped Holeand Love and Money deliver songs that are quite simply stunning. His live performance is funny and thought provoking. Chuck has participated in the popular Cayamo Music Cruise and quickly became a fan favorite. Josh Jackson of Paste Magazine says of Chuck: “Watching Chuck Cannon for the first time, I decided he is as gifted a scribe as many of the folks on our list of the 100 Best Living Songwriters---and funnier than most”
