After high bacteria levels were detected, all beaches are now open.

The Board of Health shut the beaches to swimmers Thursday, after tests showed levels of fecal coliform. The affected beaches are Gas House Beach, Grace Oliver Beach, Stramski Beach, Sunset Road Pier and Village Street.

Water at Marblehead beaches is tested every Wednesday. This week, the testing happened right after a rain storm, and the water samples may have been contaminated by storm drain runoff.
