Athlete of the Week: Emma McGuirk

Marblehead High School senior Emma McGuirk is nearing the end of her time in high school, but she will leave a great legacy behind when she moves on to Middlebury College in the fall.

McGuirk was captain of the indoor and outdoor track teams, the soccer team and she was also a Northeastern Conference All-Star in tennis.

Emma holds a 4.2 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society, and was honored with Wellesley College Book Award during her senior year.

In her four years at MHS, McGuirk has achieved High Honor Roll status every single semester, and is currently enrolled in five advanced placement courses.

When she’s not hitting the books or setting school records in track, McGuirk plays the flute in the MHS Marching and Concert Bands, and is a featured soloist in the Jazz Band.

Track coach Mike Toomey said that McGuirk is one of the finest athletes and finest persons he has ever worked with.

Emma will compete in track and field for Middlebury College, and study Italian next fall.

McGuirk lives on Ralph Road with her mom and dad and younger sister, and she used to hip-hop dance as a kid.
