Athlete of the Week: Emmy York
Emmy York has the outfield covered for coach Johnny Gold and the Marblehead High School softball team this spring.
Marblehead senior Emmy York is having a great season at the plate and patrolling the outfield for the softball team this spring. Heading into Monday’s game with the Big Blue, the co-captain was batting .381 with eight hits and seven stolen bases.
Against Swampscott, York had one of the 12 Header hits in an 8-5 win. York went 3-5 in a 14-5 win over Gloucester, and scored a huge run in a win against Danvers. In a 3-1 win over Masconomet, York helped preserve the win when she gunned a runner out at the plate.
Emmy suited up for the Powder Puff team last fall and played basketball for the Headers over the winter. She will be pursuing a degree in communications at Elon University in the fall.

Up next: Emy will head off to attend college at Elon University in North Carolina. “I immediately loved it there and applied for early admission, I hope to play intramural flag football and some softball when I’m there,” she said.
