Athlete of the Week: Nolan Raimo

This week's Marblehead Patch Athlete of the Week is Nolan Raimo.

senior Nolan Raimo is a busy guy, both on and off the track.

Although he is preparing to attend Williams College next year, his focus, for now, is on the Magicians' indoor track season. Raimo won Northeastern Conference MVP last spring and qualified for New England's in spring track for long jump.

After losing his father, Charlie, to colon cancer in 2009, Raimo began running to raise money for Mass General Hospital's Cancer clinic.

"The fundraiser was Running for the Cure and I had people pledge money based on my performance," Raimo said. "So far, I've raised something like $19,000 in two years."

Although he spent his childhood focused on sports like baseball and basketball, Raimo's father, who was also a track star at MHS, suggested he take up track and field.
