Audition for Marblehead Little Theatre's Upcoming Production of The Importance of Being Earnest
Marblehead Little Theatre is looking for actors/actresses to audition for their upcoming production of The Importance of Being Earnest

Marblehead Little Theatre announces non-equity auditions for their upcoming production of The Importance of Being Earnest. Auditions will be by appointment only. The book was written by Oscar Wilde. The production will be directed by Emily Grove. The auditions will be held Sunday, November 13th from 4PM-8PM and Monday, November 14th from 7PM-10PM. Callbacks to follow on Thursday, November 17th from 6PM-9PM. The production will run January 27 - February 5th 2017. Please prepare a 1-2 minute monologue from a classic comedy/farce of the time period. Please no selections from The Importance of Being Earnest. Cold-reads from the provided text may be requested by the director.

John (Jack/Ernest) Worthing, J.P. - The play’s protagonist. Jack Worthing is a seemingly responsible and respectable young man who leads a double life.
Algernon Moncrieff - The play’s secondary hero. Algernon is a charming, idle, decorative bachelor, nephew of Lady Bracknell, cousin of Gwendolen Fairfax, and best friend of Jack Worthing, whom he has known for years as Ernest.

Gwendolen Fairfax - Algernon’s cousin and Lady Bracknell’s daughter. Gwendolen is in love with Jack, whom she knows as Ernest.
Cecily Cardew - Jack’s ward, the granddaughter of the old gentlemen who found and adopted Jack when Jack was a baby.
Lady Bracknell - Algernon’s snobbish, mercenary, and domineering aunt and Gwendolen’s mother. Lady Bracknell married well, and her primary goal in life is to see her daughter do the same.
Rev. Canon Chasuble, D.D. - The rector on Jack’s estate. Both Jack and Algernon approach Dr. Chasuble to request that they be christened “Ernest.” Dr. Chasuble entertains secret romantic feelings for Miss Prism.
Lane - Algernon’s manservant.
Miss Prism: governess to Cecily. A secret romantic.
