To Kill A Mockingbird Auditions: Mugford Street Players In Conjunction With Marblehead Little Theatre

The Mugford Street Players of Marblehead announce open auditions for a March 2019 production of Harper Lee’s classic drama TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD - on Sunday, November 18 from 1:00pm-4:30pm, and Monday, November 19 from 6:00-8:30pm at Abbot Public Library, 235 Pleasant Street in Marblehead.
To Kill a Mockingbird is Christopher Sergel’s stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s 1961 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel about a child’s view of race and justice in the Depression-era South. The book sells one million copies per year, and Scout remains one of the most beloved characters in American fiction.

Auditioners are asked to prepare and present a two-minute dramatic or comedic monologue. Cold readings will also be conducted from the script.
The cast requires more than 20 actors in speaking roles to portray the people of the sleepy Alabama town of Maycomb – including youngsters to play Scout, Jem and Dill (age ranges 11-14), the town lawyer Atticus Finch (age range 35-55), African-American actors (age range 30+) to play Tom Robinson, his wife Helen, Rev. Sykes, and housekeeper Calpurnia - plus actors of various ages to play the town’s Sherif, Lawyer, Judge, townspeople and Jean Louise, Scout grown older, who narrates
