Boatbuilding Workshop at Redd's Pond Boatworks Begins June 22nd
Summer Boatbuilding Workshop at Redd's Pond Boatworks , June 22-July 23, 6-9 pm, Monday-Thursday.
Ahoy Neighbors!
Last summer led to the successful build and launch of a Banks Dory, and it’s that time of year that we are looking forward to our second boatbuilding workshop at Redd’s Pond Boatworks. This summer we are offering to build a skiff. A skiff is a seaworthy and versatile family boat that easily accepts an outboard motor. It has stern side seats and two thwart seats that provide ample seating. At the end of the workshop we will host a celebratory launch and the boat will be raffled-off for the cost of materials.
Doug Park, owner of Redd’s Pond Boatworks, and Russ Wells, teacher at Tower School, will be leading the instruction. The class will cover skills such as pattern making, riveting, boat joinery, steam bending, oar making, and painting. It is a excellent design to learn with as it combines elements of much larger boats into a small, quickly built, easily handled boat.
