Bomb Squad Called, Overdose, 'Firebombs': Marblehead Police Log
Latest Marblehead police log: bomb squad called for a suspicious package, overdose response, youths lighting "firebombs."
MARBLEHEAD, MA — The following are excerpts from the Marblehead police log. Suspects are presumed innocent.
Fri., Sept. 2
- 1:23 p.m. A bicycle was stolen on Nahant Street.
- 2:57 p.m. The State Police bomb squad was called to the Village School for a report of a suspicious package. It turned out a staff member dropped off the package; there was no danger.
- 3:03 p.m. Police were called to Pleasant Street for a possible overdose.
- 3:56 p.m. An IRS scam was reported on Russell Street.
- 4:38 p.m. Someone stole a bicycle on Gerald Road then left another bicycle in its place.
- 5:30 p.m. Someone stole an iPhone 5S from a person's backpack at Crocker Park.

- 10:39 a.m. A driver hit a parked vehicle on Gregory Street then sped off.
- 12:59 p.m. A needle was found on the beach near Pleasant Street.
- 2:46 p.m. A man was hospitalized after his arms were caught in fish hooks.
- 8:40 p.m. A woman in Peach Highlands called police, saying a group of youths was being rowdy and lighting off "firebombs" near her car.
- 10:23 p.m. A car was egged on Atlantic Avenue.
- 10:50 p.m. A house was egged on Camille Terrace.
- 10:56 p.m. Alexander Speed, 25, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was arrested on several warrants.
Sun., Sept. 4
- 12:47 p.m. Police were called to Ocean Avenue after someone threatened another person with a gun.
