Chloe’s story:

On December 9th, 2014, Chloe Rombach (22 yrs old), stepped into a dark and rainy night to make the 10-minute walk to her job as a yoga instructor for Karuna Yoga in Northampton. She never made it.
As she entered the crosswalk at Fair and Bridge Streets, she was struck by a car and dragged 150 feet. It took a team of firefighters to free her. The Rombach family entered a living nightmare that night and have been by the bedside of Chloe in the many long weeks that have passed since the accident.

A few days after the accident, Chloe had an emergency double craniectomy (removal of two large portions of her skull) to allow her brain to swell and prevent further damage. Since that time, she has been especially vulnerable - but finally, on April 30, she went into surgery to add titanium plates and make her skull whole once again. This is a major blessing and her family and loved ones celebrate each incremental step in her progress toward healing, regaining consciousness and to hopefully, one day, regaining her independent life.
While handling this unimaginable tragedy, the Rombachs face a towering mountain of financial obligations, and Chloe will need continuing medical care for many years to come. Financially, things could not be much worse.
The Spirit of ‘76 Bookstore is trying to help eliminate one of their greatest monthly financial obligations: Paying for their home. If they know they’ve got a roof over their heads, free and clear, a place where they can find some comfort and a place where Chloe can hopefully return home to- that will be a huge burden lifted.
The goal is set as follows:
$112,567 to pay off the mortgage
$38,372 to pay off the home equity line
$75,000 to pay for home repairs and improvements to the main house and basement - to make the house safe and wheelchair accessible for Chloe
--------
$225,939 total goal
