Marathon experience: This is my 2nd marathon. My first was the 2014 Boston Marathon.
Reason for running: I run to make a difference in my life, the lives of the thousands of girls Dream Big! serves, to be a part of this special Boston event with my family and to set an example for my six year old daughter, Erin, that you can do anything you set your mind to. She recently told me “Mommy, I’m proud of you for running your second marathon”. End of story. That is why I run.
Charity (if applicable): I am a member of the 2015 Dream Big! Marathon Team. Dream Big! provides girls from low income situations with equipment, uniforms, athletic footwear, program fees and training opportunities that enable them to participate in sports and physical activities that contribute to their health, education and overall well-being. Dream Big! was founded in 2010 by Founder & CEO, Linda Driscoll and in just five years has already impacted over 14,000 girls in need.https://www.crowdrise.com/dreambigboston2015/fundraiser/kathywilder

Training tip: Run for charity and join a running group to give more meaning to your marathon while surrounded by positive and motivated people. My Dream Big! team trains weekly with other Boston Athletic Association and John Hancock Charity Teams under coach Rick Muhr from the Marathon Coalition. We have met every Saturday this crazy winter in Newton for coaching tips and training runs along the course.
