Boys' Soccer Team's All-Stars Lead Way to Second Win

Marblehead High School's boys' soccer team earned their second win of the season Wednesday.

The following information was provided by boys' varsity soccer coach Darren Benedick:

's varsity boys' soccer team picked up their second win of the season and improved their record to 2-12-2 Wednesday with a 5-2 victory over Beverly (2-11-3).

The first half was a close affair, with Marblehead shading the possession slightly. Senior captain and goalkeeper Chris Pedersen, making his return from a concussion injury, made a key save diving to his left as the half was winding down. It was the first time all season that Marblehead were able to field all three of their captains, and for coach Darren Benedick, it was a pleasure filling out the team sheet.

"I don't like asking the question 'what if?,' but you can't blame me for allowing that question to cross my mind," Benedick said. "Today, I did not need to motivate the players, as they had their leadership present on the field in unison."

The first goal was slotted under the keeper by Beloff's dangerous left foot, following a pin-point pass by Senior captain, Mike Brenan. Brenan crossed the ball for Mukania's first of the game and the Magicians were up 2-0.

Beloff then turned provider as his cross was headed into the net by freshman forward Chris Brady. Beverly pulled a goal back from a penalty kick but Marblehead forged further in front when Mike Brenan completed his hat trick of assists and set up Rudy Mukania to make it 4-1.
