CollegeBound Community Services, a New, Local Resource for High School Students and Parents
CollegeBound Community Services is a non-profit organization created by CollegeBound Coaching to help teenagers and their families with the college admissions process.
CollegeBound Coaching (www.collegeboundcoaching.com), our local college preparation and admissions firm, has recently created a non-profit organization, CollegeBound Community Services (www.collegeboundcommunityservices.org), to help high school students with developing leadership skills through community service, to help parents to gain a more informed understanding of the college admissions process, and to help deserving, underprivileged students to gain admission to college.
Next week, we are conducting our inaugural, local community event:“College Admissions 2.0,” a free workshop to be conducted by several highly qualified, highly experienced educational consultants and other professionals from throughout New England whom we have invited to Marblehead to share their knowledge and insight into student positioning, athletic recruitment, accessing financial aid, prepping for standardized tests , planning college visits, and writing essays with local parents of high school students -- juniors, sophomores, as well as freshmen.
"College Admissions 2.0" will be held at the JCC of the North Shore in Marblehead next Wednesday, May 23rd from 7PM-9PM. Admission is free, however, reservations are required.

We are also offering to help local area high school students to develop their leadership skills through community service. For example, Emily Cerra, a junior at Swampscott High School, has this past year created “Powder Blue Soccer,” a youth soccer program held weekly at the Ford School in Lynn through which she is able to teach fundamental soccer skills to disadvantaged children who would not otherwise have such an opportunity.

Perhaps our most important goal is to help deserving, under-privileged high school students to attend college. Toward this end, this year we have worked with Natalia Extremera, an inner-city, Hispanic student-athlete who received a scholarship to Richard Stockton to try to become the first person to graduate from college.
