Leaf Blower Compromise

Our local landscapers work hard. They deserve to make a decent living. They also deserve healthy working conditions.  And Marblehead’s residents deserve the same.

 Article 40 in our Town Warrant respects all of us.  In the months when spring or fall cleanup takes place, the gas-powered leaf blowers will be permitted.  In the summer months when we love to be outdoors smelling our fresh ocean-side air and listening to the sounds of birds singing and children playing, the leaf blowers will be put away.

 Yes, I wish I could sit on my back porch anytime without hearing them, but I think Article 40 is a fair compromise at this time.  A compromise we all can support at Town Meeting.
