Troop 11 Sailing Trip to Marblehead

Marblehead Boy Scouts Do Overnight Sail to Rockport

Scouts from Troop 11 in Marblehead went on an overnight sailing trip to Rockport, MA on Saturday, June 9.  Three sailboats left in the morning and had an exhilerating sail with more wind than forecast.  Arriving in Rockport in the afternoon, the scouts were generously hosted by the Rockport Harbormaster, with launch service provided by the Sandy Bay Yacht Club.   Rockport is a strong supporter of scouting, with its own troop, and a scouting building.

The Scouts enjoyed exploring downtown Rockport during the afternoon.  They prepared all meals on the boats and spent the night on the boats.  After preparing breakfast and preping for the sail back to Marblehead, the three boats departed slightly before 10 AM, for another beautiful sail back to Marblehead.
