Troop 11 Thanksgiving Camping Trip

Scouts camp out, but feast on turkey cooked on fires in cardboard ovens!

22 boy scouts from Marblehead's Troop 11 spent the weekend before Thanksgiving camping at Camp Nobscott in Sudbury.

They worked on rank advancement and learned about search and rescue procedures, going through several search exercises. At the annual event, they prepared a complete turkey dinner, cooking the turkeys outdoors in cardboard box ovens over fires.

The troop typically takes monthly camping trips, attends camp for a week each summer, and goes on two week high adventure backpacking trips for older scouts.  The high adventure trips have included trips to high adventure scouting bases in Florida and New Mexico, as well as many national parks, including two in Alaska.
