UPDATE: Franklin Street Reopens Following Bus Crash

Crews are replacing the pole and buses are running on snow routes.

UPDATE, Wednesday, 4 p.m.

Franklin Street reopened to traffic at about 1 p.m. Wednesday. Crews had been on the scene since Wednesday morning replacing a power pole that was struck by an MBTA bus.

UPDATE, Wednesday, 9:32 a.m.:

The MBTA bus that struck a pole on Franklin Street has been moved away from the pole, allowing crews to access the area for repairs.

According to a Marblehead Police Department Facebook page post. the Electric Light Department will be on the scene for the next few hours in order to replace the pole and MBTA buses will operate on snow routes during this time. Franklin Street remains closed.

No one was injured in the crash.

ORIGINAL POST, Wednesday at 8 a.m.:

Drivers and bus commuters could find their morning trips interrupted in Marblehead Wednesday morning.

According to the Marblehead Police Department Facebook feed, an MBTA bus struck a telephone pole on Franklin Street at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Wires were reported to be low, and the road is closed at Washington and Front streets.

The Electric Light Department is on the scene and MBTA buses are operating on snow routes until the street reopens.
