Please join us for a presentation by and discussion with Tara Bane, author of “Evolution of a Heart: From the Darkness of 9/11 to Rebuilding a Life and Finding Joy.” This is a deeply personal memoir chronicling the loss of her husband, Michael, in the North Tower of the World Trade Center, and the decades-long path toward healing. Told with raw emotion and heart, the book moves through the immediate aftermath of tragedy, toward the slower, quieter work of rebuilding a life, raising a family, finding new love, and discovering unexpected joy without letting go of what was lost.

Bane draws on her professional background as an art therapist, yoga and breathwork teacher, and visual artist to offer readers not just her personal story but a lens on how creativity and embodied practice can support grief and post-traumatic growth. This is not a story of moving on. It is a story of moving through. More than a reflection on tragedy, “Evolution of a Heart” serves as a guide to finding light during the darkest moments, reminding us that even after profound loss, hope endures, and life can still be embraced fully and joyfully. Books will be available for purchase.
Registration is required. Please register at tinyurl.com/Tara-Bane.

This presentation will focus on General Glover’s post-Revolutionary years, when he re-started his business operations and purchased a farm in 1781, the year he re-married after his previous wife’s death in 1778 in the middle of the war, and a year before he retired from his eight long years of service in the Revolution. Updates about the state of the c.1730-50s farm house and its preservation will be included.

This program will be hybrid. Sign up for Zoom at tinyurl.com/Glover-Farm or join us in person, no registration required! If registering for Zoom, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting online.

Nancy Schultz is Chair of Swampscott’s Historical Commission, and for the past three years has pressed tirelessly for the preservation of General Glover’s Farm House, after a long career as an English professor at Salem State University.
