The causeway has reopened as the most recent high tide cycle has passed.

Still, the Marblehead Police Department is reminding residents that a travel ban is in place and residents should stay off the roads whether by car or foot.

“Driving conditions are deteriorating, blowing and falling snow are causing whiteout conditions,” reads an 8 a.m. Tuesday post on the Marblehead Police Department Facebook page. “If you can avoid being out, even on foot, it’s best to stay in. Snow plows won’t be able to see you until it’s too late.”

While the causeway was closed, emergency crews and equipment were stationed on the neck should a resident have needed support.
