Clerk Open Late for Last Chance to Register for Primary Election
Wednesday is the deadline to register for the September primary election.

If you want to vote in next month’s primary election, you will need to make sure you are registered by the end of the day on Wednesday.
The Town Clerk’s office will be open for expanded hours until 8 p.m. to take new registrations. Voters who are already registered and have not moved - or do not want to change their party affiliation - don’t need to do anything. In the primary, voters registered for a specific party can only vote in that party’s primary. For example, a registered Republican cannot take the Democratic Party ballot in the primary.
There will be several contested races on the ballot for the Tuesday, Sept. 9 primary. The Democratic Party field for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and treasurer will be narrowed down. Voters on the Democratic side will also decide which candidate will advance to the November general election in the Sixth District race for Congress. Republicans, too, have a contested race and will narrow the field to one candidate for governor.
