Come Check Out Marblehead's Abbot Library's Temporary Home
An open house is set for the Eveleth School, which will be the home of the Abbot Library during two years of renovations.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Although the Abbot Public Library is closed for renovations to the historic building for the next two years, the temporary location at the Eveleth School still has many of the same materials and services.
Residents are invited to come down and check all the temporary location has to offer at an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 9.
Those attending will be able to explore the collections and spaces for adults, teens and children. The night will include fun events for children and adults.

The Eveleth School on Brook Road opened as a temporary location in mid-October. The $9 million renovation of the Abbot Library renovation is expected to begin in December and be completed in the spring of 2024.
Hours at the Eveleth School are the same as they were at the Pleasant Street location
with the library open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, noon to 6 p.m. on Thursdays, and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The interim space includes repurposed classroom and gymnasium space and houses about 40 percent of the Abbot collections. Quiet reading areas, a room for public programs, browsing, book returns and computer labs are all included at the temporary location.
