Crews Work To Repair Marblehead Gas Leak

Marblehead police said National Grid crews were working on the gas leak in the area of Maverick Street late Wednesday morning.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Crews were working in the area of Maverick Street in Marblehead to repair a gas leak Wednesday morning.

Marblehead police said there was "no need for alarm" but that emergency vehicles would be in the area and traffic could be affected for the duration of the repairs.

Police said the leak occurred just in from Pleasant Street.

Those seeking to go to the library or further up Maverick Street in the Maverick Court area were asked to use Prince Street.

All traffic leaving the library was to still flow normally out to Pleasant Street.

Police said an officer was on the scene and emergency vehicle and truck access would continue.

"It is unclear at this time how long the repair will take," Marblehead police said late Wednesday morning.
