Cross Country Dominates At Saugus

Both the Boys and Girls teams put up the cross-country equivalent of a shutout during their dual meet at Breakheart Reservation in Saugus on Tuesday.

It was a veritable walk in the park, or more like a 5K run through Breakheart Reservation, for the Marblehead High School Boys and Girls cross-country teams on Tuesday, as they both took home 15-50 victories over Saugus in the opening race of the dual-meet season.

Coach Brian Heenan thought his team had a "great group performance," but admitted that "things will not get any easier from here."

The Boys top finishers were Henry Pratt (18:18), James Wigglesworth (18:19), Noah Bitterman (18:19), Greg Worth (18:24), and Mike Harper (18:32).

The Girls team had the top twelve finishers in their race, with Claire Depew, Madeline Piela and Mary Kauffman leading the way, crossing the finish line together at 23:23.

"They ran against themselves and pushed each other," said Coach Jen Emblidge. "It was a great start to our dual meet season."
