Cross-Country Girls Have Successful Invitational
The MHS cross-country girls had successful races at the Bay State Invitational on Saturday, in Wrentham.

It was an all-round success for the MHS Girls cross-country team on Saturday, as they competed in the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Bay State Cross-Country Invitational held at the Wrentham Development Center in Wrentham.
The Varsity girls, who ran the final race of the day, posted times fast enough to secure second place overall in the Division-II 5k event.
Finishing first for Marblehead were juniors Chole Heskett (20:39.7), Madeline Piela (20:41.0), and Mary Kauffman (20:58.7); claiming 24th, 25th and 31st places respectively. Also contributing to the team's great finish were senior Claire Depew (46, 21:35.3), junior Lillie Johnston (54, 21:42.7), freshman Molly Depew (55, 21:46.4), and junior Molly Sweeney (74, 22:19.8).

Three girls ran in the Junior Varsity 5K race, with all of them earning medals in the 173 runner field. Leading the Lady Magicians was senior Kate Hewig (16, 23:49.0); she was followed by sophomores Caroline Kliss (24, 24:15.2) and Stephanie Lundgren (30, 24:34.0)
Ten freshman girls competed in a 1.9 mile race, with Jo-Jo Twaalfhoven (13:42.3) and Lily Roberts (13:54.2) earning medals for 22nd and 28th place respectively. The other MHS runners in the 131 girl freshman race were Cox Noey (42, 14:20.6), Sophie Naughton (63, 15:03.4), Meghan Friel (67, 15:17.0), Margarent Rockett (68, 15:17.3), Misa Takata (103, 17:11.4), Amy Roberto (107, 17:25.0), Jessica Drooks (113, 17:37.1), and Mary Lavoie-Mayer (121, 18:23.3).

"The girls ran a strong and smart race today," said coach Jen Emblidge. " The course was mostly flat with rolling hills and the weather was perfect for running. Their hard work and dedication to the sport certainly showed today."
The MHS boys also competed at the Invitational, finishing in sixth place as a team. Their results are as follows:
