Cross-Country Teams Run in Rhode Island
The MHS Boys and Girls cross-country teams both took part in the Brown Invitational race this past weekend, which took place at Goddard Park in Warwick, RI.

The top seven runners from Marblehead's boys and girls cross-country teams, traveled to Warwick, RI. to compete in the Brown Invitational at Goddard Park on Saturday, Oct. 16.
The girls were able to claim sixth place in their 23 team field, as Mary Kauffman (21, 20:11), Chloe Heskett (33, 20:33), Carly Robb (44, 20:55), Claire Depew (21:18), Molly Sweeney (62, 21:41), Madeline Piela (69, 21:47), and Lillie Johnston (110, 23:12) all ran very competitive times in the Division I Varsity Race.
"It has been a while since we went to this meet and we all really enjoyed the course and look forward to participating again," said girls head coach Jen Emblidge. "They had some great races and the weather was perfect."

The boys had nearly the same result, earning 10th place out of 28 teams, tallying 262 race points. This event saw another shuffle in the teams top-seven runners, as the team competed without #1 runner James Wigglesworth, who was held out of the race as he rests an injury.
Nate Fowler stepped in for the injured Wigglesworth, and was able to run one of "the best races of the day," according to boys head coach Brian Heenan.

Leading the way for the Magicians was Henry Pratt (32, 17:11), who was followed by Ethan Levine (51, 17:36), Mike Harper (54, 17:40), Will Herlihy (57, 17:43), Fowler (72, 17:57), Patrick Casey (78, 18:02), and Noah Bitterman (94, 18:22).
"At this point of the season, the top seven is usually solidified, there may be some movement; a runner may move up or down a spot," said Heenan. "But not this season. The order of the top seven finishers has not been the same in any two races this year."
