Crossing Guards Getting Ready For Duty
Extra personnel will be helping out during first few weeks of school.

It’s almost time to head back to school, and with that comes the yearly safety preparations and friendly reminders from the Marblehead Police Department.
On Tuesday morning, all of the Traffic Supervisors (also known as crossing guards) met at the police station to receive their yearly assignments and equipment check.
The department welcomed four new crossing guards joining the ranks of the nearly twenty people who oversee the safety of students coming and going from school.

The police and crossing guards are asking for help to keep everyone safe – when a crossing guard is in the middle of the crosswalk, in the middle of the street with the “stop sign” extended – please stop and remain stopped until everyone is safely out of the street.
The police department will be adding additional patrols for the first couple of weeks to have a larger police presence around the schools to monitor the traffic and to encourage everyone to slow down and pay attention to their surroundings.
