DUI Checkpoint in Essex County Tonight
A DUI checkpoint will be held somewhere in Essex County tonight. Please share and drive safe this weekend!
State Police tonight will conduct a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in Essex County.
The checkpoint will be held late tonight into Saturday morning to kick off the July 4th weekend. Per the State Police policy, the exact location and time were not revealed.
"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," State Police Col. Richard McKeon said in a statement. "It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety."
