Opera You Love to Hear...Really
Opening the 32nd Season of Symphony by the Sea will be an ‘opera lover’s delight.’ For those new to opera, the program will serve as a compelling introduction to the genre. Audience favorites have been especially chosen to ensure that this program is a ‘fall in love’ experience.
The concert will feature three guest soloists: Sara Heaton, Soprano; Michael Kuhn, Tenor; and Ross Benoliel, Baritone under the direction of Music Director, Donald Palma, who has become familiar to Symphony by the Sea audiences. Throughout the performance, Palma will offer “comments from the podium” to augment everyone’s enjoyment of this rich and colorful repertoire.

From Mozart to Strauss, Jr., the audience will enjoy arias, duets, trios, and overtures which will engage the audience with beloved melodies and sometimes outrageous story lines. Combined with the award winning voices of three vocal soloists, the orchestra’s performance may give rise to new opera aficionados...and humming may be heard as the audience leaves the hall.
Concerts will take place on Thursday, October 11 at 7:30 pm at Abbot Hall in Marblehead, preceded by a pre-concert reception starting at 6:30; and on Sunday, October 14 at 3:00 pm at the Governor’s Academy in Byfield.
