Ham Jam Music Festival

It started out as a few bands playing in someone's back yard and has evolved into the North Shore's newest music festival. On Saturday July 28, from 12 noon until 8 PM at Marblehead's Crocker Park, Ham Jam will rock the North Shore.

HamJam is the brainchild of four Marblehead High School students who have given up a large part of their summer vacation to put together a full day of music for kids, by kids.

Geoffrey Selden, Leo Chalvin, Dylan Woodrow, Tyler Foley and Victoria Polunina all know each other from Marblehead High School. Tyler and Geoff play in local bands and Leo is a DJ. Dylan and Victoria are enthusiastic supporters with some valuable local connections.

Preliminary meetings with the town's Park and Recreation department resulted in enthusiastic support and guidance from Jim Sullivan and Brendan Egan.

The four event planners managed to arrange for many complicated details including sound equipment, stage, technicians, police detail and the performers. They met with town officials to obtain permits, arrange contracts and screen talent to insure a day of exciting music in Marblehead.

Nine acts including 7 bands and 2 Djs, all with connections to Marblehead promise to rock Crocker Park and everyone who comes to listen. The musical acts all include Marblehead residents, current or recent graduates of Marblehead High School and their friends.

The festival is a fund raiser for two local non-profit programs. The Plummer Home in Salem has a long history of providing a safe residential alternative to local teens. The Marblehead Cares Coalition is a newer organization working to reduce alcohol and other drug use in local youth.

This is a family friendly event for all ages. Bring a chair or a blanket and be prepared for some high energy entertainment on the harbor in beautiful Crocker Park. Enjoy the music, donate to some good causes and hear the best new talent in the area.
