Jeremy Lyons (Special Family Show)

The Me&Thee is featuring a special Saturday afternoon family show with Jeremy Lyons. This is a chance for the whole family to experience a show together. “Delta-Silly” is roots music for children. With charm and irreverent humor, Jeremy Lyons entertains the whole family, introducing a new generation to the national treasure we call American folk music. What a great treat for the kids! Doors will open at 2:00 pm for this 2:30 pm show.

YEARS AGO Jeremy Lyons quit his day job as a French Quarter street musician to become a favorite in New Orleans nightclubs. But after a few years he began to miss the families and kids that enjoyed the impromptu open-air concerts. So Jeremy started singing for his daughter and her friends on the front porch, and made appearances in classrooms in New Orleans. Now living in Massachusetts, Jeremy packs the house at sing-alongs in toy stores and libraries. At the Children’s Museums of Boston and Louisiana, Lyons has performed and led workshops. Jeremy also plays preschools, grade schools, libraries, farmers markets, festivals and birthday parties. At a summer day camp, he led an 80-piece kazoo band.

Jeremy plays a variety of instruments: banjo, guitar, harmonica, ukulele, piano, kazoo and jaw harp. He sings songs that have been around a long time. Folk tunes, railroad songs, campfire songs, food songs. . . . And now with the release of his second CD for children, entitled Silly Goose Music, we can appreciate even more “Delta-Silly” music.“It’s a real privilege,” says Lyons “to introduce young folks to songs America’s been singing for generations.”
