On Saturday, August 11th at 1:00 PM during the
Marblehead Maritime festival, local musician and historian Larry Young will bepresenting an hour long program for all ages called "Marblehead Alive in1775" in the Ballroom of the King Hooper Mansion. For many of us, history
is dry, dull and just plain boring. Mr. Young's program, however, combines period music, theater and humor with interesting bits of information and chat that brings history to life in a way that both educates and entertains as it
describes what it was like to be a young person in the 18th century. Mr. Young is a Marblehead native and graduate of Dartmouth College who has performed at
museums, schools and universities from Maine to San Francisco as well as on
National Public Radio. This event is supported by a grant from the Marblehead
Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts
Cultural Council, a state agency.
