The Marblehead Festival of Arts (MFoA), to be held this year on July 1-4, has lots to offer to everyone. Many special events will be especially appealing to children of all ages and their families.
The Sand Sculpture Competition is scheduled for July 2 from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday at Devereux Beach. All are encouraged to bring buckets, shovels and creativity to this cherished Festival family event, open to sand sculptors of all ages.
Getting an early start is recommended. Chairpersons Sharman Pollender and Barbara Dunney encourage everyone to “sign up at the Festival’s registration table on Devereux Beach—it’s free—then dig in and create the design of your dreams.”

With high tide at 12:51 pm, judges will make their rounds early in the afternoon, and the event will conclude with an Awards Ceremony at 12:45. Recognition is given to works in many categories. “The Festival extends its thanks to Coffey Ice Cream, providers of delicious ice cream for sand sculpture participants,” Pollender said.
