Marblehead Little Theatre Presents "Totally New Theatre"

“TNT! 2012 - TOTALLY NEW THEATER” FESTIVAL OFFERS FREE EVENING OF EXPLOSIVE READINGS AT MARBLEHEAD LITTLE THEATRE

TNT! 2012, a play development retreat for writers produced by local playwright Shari D. Frost for Marblehead Little Theatre, is returning for its fourth annual event this June. On Saturday, June 2 at 8pm, an evening of readings free to the public will be followed by the unique opportunity to meet the local and visiting playwrights and discuss their work. Space is first-come, first-served at the theater on 12 School Street in Marblehead, and doors will open at 7:30pm.

Clay McLeod Chapman, returning as TNT!’s Faculty Mentor, will also read an original piece on the 2nd. He resides in Brooklyn, NY, where he is currently working on the book for Broadway musical SCKBSTD with music by Bruce Hornsby, recently highlighted in the New York Times as one of five eagerly anticipated musical productions in development that “aren’t afraid to make their audiences squirm.” His short film Henley was part of this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

This year’s writers are coming from as far away as Colorado and New York State, as well as a variety of locations throughout Massachusetts. During a weekend-long event that begins on Thursday, May 31 and runs through Sunday, June 3, the writers will attend a variety of workshops and rehearsals to further develop works-in-progress.
