Rock the Holidays

The Marblehead and Salem Schools of Music are proud to present “Rock the Holidays”, a student and teacher showcase, featuring everything from classic holiday tunes and pop songs to rock 'n roll. In it's fifth year, this annual event has evolved from a small “open mic” at the Marblehead Little Theatre to a big scale event at Abbot Hall drawing nearly 250 people. The acts being presented this year are top notch.

Supporting the accomplished student performers are many well known professional musicians, including; Ken Clark, Steve Peabody, Elena Koleva, Adam Saylor, Steve Spungin and Ashley Offret (who will also be seen this season in Symphony-by-the-Sea's Peter and the Wolf). “Rock the Holidays” is a unique opportunity to mix and mingle with members of the community and enjoy quality entertainment. 

The most surprising aspect of this event is that it is absolutely free. Jen and Steve Spungin, founders of the music schools, like to think of this event as a gift to the community. “It is our way of saying thank you for the wonderful support we have received from students, families and other businesses since we opened our doors in 2007”.

Copies of the schools' latest holiday CD compilation “Sounds of the Season 2011” will also be on sale. All proceeds from the sale of this disk will go to local charities.
