Marian Court College will host a spring scholarship gala on Friday, May 3, featuring radio and television personality Jim Braude of WGBH and NECN and locally crafted food and beverages.
The event kicks off with a VIP reception with Sheriff Frank Cousins at 6 p.m., which will be open to silver, gold and platinum level sponsors. From 6:30-9:30 p.m., guests will enjoy silent and live auctions, with Braude serving as the celebrity auctioneer, and complimentary signature cocktails by Ryan & Wood Distillery, Cape Ann Brewery and Vinnin Square Liquors, paired with delicious hors d’oeuvres and desserts from Chartwells and Periwinkles Food Shoppe.
The gala, which will be held on campus at 35 Little's Point Road in Swampscott, will also provide an opportunity for the community to welcome Dr. Denise Hammon as the new president of Marian Court College. Hammon was appointed the college’s fourth president this year. She had been serving as interim president since August 2012. Moving forward, Hammon said she will focus on expanding the college’s academic offerings, while maintaining Marian Court’s high retention and graduation rate and diverse student body.

Tickets for the gala start at $50 and sponsorship levels start at $500. Funds raised will go towards the college’s scholarship fund, which makes a college education possible for many deserving students.
A Catholic, four-year, liberal arts college, Marian Court was founded in 1964 by the Sisters of Mercy. Today, more than 93 percent of Marian Court College students receive financial aid. Though the school continues to offer a high-quality college education at one of the lowest tuition rates of all private colleges in Massachusetts, the need for additional support is great.
