“The Evolving Work of Richard Warren Buckley: From realism and surrealism to minimalism”

RICHARD WARREN BUCKLEY EXHIBITS IN STETSON GALLERY IN OCTOBER

“The Evolving Work of Richard Warren Buckley: From realism and surrealism to minimalism” will be the exhibit at Stetson Gallery in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Marblehead throughout the month of October. An opening reception to which the public is invited will be held on Sunday, Oct. 7 from 12-2 p.m. at the Gallery, located at 28 Mugford St., Marblehead. Dick Buckley will also hold a “meet the artist” open gallery on Sunday, Oct. 14, from 2-3:30 p.m.

Richard Warren Buckley of Marblehead is an award winning photographer and minimalist painter. Many of his latest works seek out the essence of his subjects by minimalizing the physical aspects of the subjects to capture their core energy. Buckley's words and images have appeared in national and international advertising, marketing communications materials as well as in periodicals and annual reports. His works have been exhibited in galleries, art fairs, and museums from Boston to Los Angeles.

“Over the past 40 years, my work has evolved from representational oils on canvas to a minimalist technique utilizing primarily bold black strokes and a small red dot on a white background,” Buckley said about the progress of his work. “I’m often asked about the significance of the red dot; it symbolizes the core energy fueling the essence. My current art is the product of decades of releasing, of letting things go as I attempt to transcended intellect, education, and the expectations of others. “
