Famed Boston Sporstcasters To Grace JCC Tonight

Legendary Boston sportscasters Bob Lobel and Mike Lynch will appear at the JCC tonight for an evening of Sports Talk.

Local residents will have the opportunity to meet famed Boston sportscasters Bob Lobel and Mike Lynch tonight as part of Sports Night at the JCC. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature a question and answer segment where residents can ask the pair how they feel the Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots and Celtics will fare this year.

The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center of the North Shore and residents are encouraged to show up a little early for Stadium Snacks, which will include pretzels and beer. Sports Huddle host Billy Fairweather will serve as moderator at the event.

Mike Lynch, a Swampscott native, has been the principal sports anchor at WCVB-TV Channel 5  since 1985. He played Big Blue football and has fond memories of the JCC, where he played basketball as a kid.

“I loved shooting hoops in the JCC gym,” Lynch said. “I’m looking forward to seeing lots of old friends.”

Bob Lobel was a popular sportscaster for WBZ-TV Channel 4 for nearly 30 years.  In addition to his experience on the news, Lobel has also done some play-by-play work, calling WBZ's Boston Celtics games from 1989 to 1993, New England Patriots preseason games from 1985 to 1991 and two NFL games for NBC in 1985.
