Fire Closes Marblehead Transfer Station Yard Waste Area For Tuesday
Crews from Marblehead and Peabody on Monday afternoon battled a blaze at the transfer station on Woodfin Terrace.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Fire crews from Marblehead and Peabody battled a blaze that sparked at the Marblehead Transfer Station late Monday afternoon and grew so intense it caused broken in windows at Tioga Way.
Marblehead fire said the blaze sparked in brush near the station about 4:30 p.m. and was still smoldering as of 8 p.m.
Marblehead fire and health officials were set to remain at the transfer station throughout the night with a private contractor hired to grind the pile and allow for the fire to be fully extinguished.

The yard waste area of the transfer station is closed on Tuesday and residents are asked to avoid the area if possible.
Peabody fire crews assisted at the scene with Nahant providing coverage for the town.

Rehab Five and Cataldo Ambulance provided rehab and cooling relief to on scene crews.
