Fisherman Swept Out to Sea on North Shore: Coast Guard

The Coast Guard is searching for Manoel Desoza off the coast of Gloucester.

GLOUCESTER, MA — The Coast Guard on Tuesday launched a search for a fisherman who was swept out to sea in Gloucester.

The man, identified as Manoel Desoza, was fishing at the rocks at Rafes Chasm Park Tuesday when he fell in at about 2:50 p.m., the Coast Guard said.

Another man fishing with Desoza also fell in but made it back to shore, according to the Coast Guard.

Rafes Chasm Park is a popular fishing spot and the weather Tuesday was favorable, with sunny skies and highs in the mid-60s.
