Five Stories That Made Waves This Week

In case you missed them, here are the week's most-read items on Marblehead Patch.

It's been quite a week in Marblehead. Here are our five most-read stories:

1. Colleges That Say Yes to Marblehead Students — By far our most-read item of the week was the list of colleges and universities who have accepted members of the Marblehead High School Class of 2013.

2. Woman Receives Call Claiming Her Husband Taken Hostage — We run the Marblehead Police activity log three times a week. The lead item on this edition was the odd story of scam artists trying to trick a woman into paying $1,000 "ransom" for her husband.

3. Big Drain Project Prompts Business Concerns About Lost Revenue — If you haven't heard of the drain project downtown, you will soon. Business owners are concerned the project — which residents agree needs to be done — will put off customers, who may find it difficult to park. Expect to read a lot about this project on Marblehead Patch this summer and throughout the three-year span of the work.

4. Buyer Says Kayak Sold Out From Underneath Him — A police log leading with this item also was highly read. A man had paid $395 for a kayak, but when he came to get it, the owner had sold it to someone else.

5. Casa Corona Awarded Liquor License — There was plenty of interest in reading about Casa Corona finally getting a full liquor license. And interesting discussion in the comments section about the politics of who gets booze licenses.
