Girl Reports Man Following Her After Basketball Practice

Tuesday, Feb. 26

• At 10:03 a.m., police received a report of a woman who appeared to be in distress sitting on rocks at Preston Beach. Police checked on the woman and found that she was OK.
• At 2:36 p.m., police received a report of an erratic driver passing cars on Humphrey Street.
• At 6:56 p.m., police received a call saying that she was walking and two cars went through the crosswalk without stopping. 

 Wednesday, Feb. 24

• At 3:45 a.m., police  received a report from an Evans Road location where a man said his ex-wife showed up at his shop and would not leave and was trying to take his dogs. 
• At 11:35 a.m., a caller reported almost being hit by a car that failed to stop at a stop sign on Pleasant Street. The driver was on a cell phone.
• At 2:59 p.m., a car reportedly hit another car on West Shore Drive. 
• At 5:35 p.m., police received a report from a Camille Terrace man who said his truck was taken without permission by someone he knows.
• At 9:15 p.m., police received a report that a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle on Tedesco Street. It turned out the bicyclist was not hit, rather she fell and was not injured.

Thursday, Feb. 25

• At 1:56 p.m., a home health aide called from Jersey Street saying the person she cares for just died. Police and fire units responded to the address. The person was warm to the touch and transported to Salem Hospital.
• At 2:52 p.m., police received a report of a motor vehicle hit and run on Humphrey Street.
• At 7:57 p.m., police received a report of a man following a girl after basketball practice. The girl was walking down the steps of Marblehead Veternas Middle School when she noticed a man walking inbound on the Pleasant Street sidewalk. When she crossed the street the man followed and told her to come to him. The man was dressed in black and wearing a ballcap. He looked to be in his 30s. When the man saw she was cresting Gerry Hill going toward the police department, he stopped. Police checked several locations in town but did nto find the suspicious male.
