Girls' Lacrosse Team Squashes Hornets

Seven-goal outburst helps Marblehead defeat Manchester-Essex 19-13 Friday afternoon at Piper Field.

Marblehead and Manchester-Essex played their only match of the season Friday afternoon, and Hornets goalie Maddi Bistrong is probably glad she doesn’t have to see the Header attack line again this year.

After falling behind 3-0, and 4-2, Marblehead stormed ahead with seven consecutive goals late in the first half and held on for a 19-13 victory.

M-E’s Taylor Meeks opened the scoring at 24:48 after a Marblehead infraction gave the Hornets a free position in front of goalie Kelly Collins.

Maika Phillips and Cassie Rodgers had assists for Marblehead.

The girls travel to Ipswich Monday afternoon for a game against the Tigers, and host Salem at Piper Field on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
