Girls' Lacrosse Wins on Senior Day
The MHS Varsity girls lacrosse team had a big win over Monson with an 18-4 victory at home. Before the game, the six seniors on the squad celebrated with teammates and their families during the Senior Ceremony.
The Marblehead High School Girls Varsity Lacrosse team dominated the field offensively on Saturday with 9 different scorers for the day for the second game in a row. They are now 11-4-1 overall and 6-1-0 in the league.
Coach Annie Pugh said "It was a total team effort with every chance to show their skills that will take our game to the next level, especially in tournament play."
This was the last regularly scheduled game for the season and it was all about the seniors. Late Friday night, the underclassmen visited the senior homes and outfitted them with "TP", a long-standing tradition.

On Saturday, a flower ceremony was orchestrated by the same girls and followed by the athletes and their parents with a run through the arch of lacrosse sticks held up by teammates.
Each senior, with the exception of goalie Kelly Collins, all scored at least one goal. Scoring for the Magicians were:

Seniors Olivia Raisner 4 goals, 4 assists; Sarah Noyes 2 goals; Maika Phillips 1 goal, 2 assists; Hayley Braun 1 goal, 2 assists and Courtney Maag had 1 goal. Kelly Collins had an impressive 9 saves.
Other standouts for the day were Kylie Fischer with 5 goals and 3 assists; Meggie Collins with 1 goal, 2 assists and Liz O'Connor chipped in 2 goals. Sophomore Tyler Phillips played both ends of the field well with 5 ground balls and 1 forced turnover.
"The seniors were excited playing for each other. After each goal that they made, they came out to give hugs to help celebrate their success over the past four years", said head coach Annie Pugh.
The team travels to Hamilton-Wenham on Monday and then meets up with Peabody on Wednesday for make-up games. Post season play will most likely start the following week.
