The Marblehead High School girls tennis team saw their amazing season come to an end on Friday afternoon, as they fell 5-0 to undefeated Winchester in the MIAA Division 2 North Semifinal round at Winchester Swim and Tennis Club.
"It was a valiant end to a wonderful season," said Coach Tim Stonecipher. "I feel that each of my girls played their best and gave their best effort, which is all that I can ask of them."
On the court for the Magicians were Julia Burke (6-0, 6-0), Mary Lindsay Ryan (7-5, 6-1) and Annie Ryan (6-2, 6-4) playing in singles competition. Lindsey Cohen/Megan Stanojev (6-4, 7-5) and Meghan Gabel/Morgan Sharrio (6-3, 6-1) were Marblehead's doubles pairs.

Sharrio believes her team scored points by displaying excellent manners and sportsmanship on the court.
"I think that after a match like today's it becomes extremely evident what a great team we truly have," continued Sharrio.
Stonecipher echoed the comments of his team captain saying the girls handled themselves with "class and tact" during a competitive match that can only be described as high tension.
Stonecipher believes that a match like the one played against Winchester can only make his team stronger.
With Sharrio being the only graduating player on a team of 35 girls, Stonecipher is quite encouraged for next season. He believes his team has set a high standard for success.
