Grandparent Scam Seeks Money Transfer

The following information came from the Marblehead Police Department. Where charges are listed, they do not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, June 25

  • At 9:48 a.m., police received a report of a moped crash at Tedesco Street and Vinnin. Swampscott police was notified.
  • At 10:39 a.m., police charged Anthony George Jackson of 38 Cottage St., Apt. 2, Lynn, with a warrant out of Marbehead.
  • At 1:10 p.m., a hit and run was reported on Humphrey Street.
  • At 11:07 p.m., a Nonantum Road resident reported a man looking in her rear window. The man was described as being in his 50’s with short hair.
Wednesday, June 26
  • At 8:03 a.m., a Robert Road resident reported a possible Craigslist scam.
  • At 8:44 a.m., a rude neighbor was reported on Weston Road
  • At 10:56 a.m., a hit and run was reported on Pleasant Street.
  • At 11:47 a.m., a Countryside Lane person walked in to the station and reported that she just received a call from someone purporting to be her grandson. The person making the call said he was Ronald Carter of the United States Embassy. Carter told (the person) that her grandson met some Americans and they got arrested w/marijuana in Panama and that she needed to send $2,054 via Western Union to Attorney Yolanda Marquez Borbon ...
  • At 1:22 p.m., a tree limb fell on at least two cars on Village Street. 
  • At 1:23 p.m., a possible hoarding situation was reported at a Robert Road address.
  • At 5:56 p.m., a Jersey Street caller reported harassing texts on her cell phone. The caller stated a woman, a former friend, was doing the harassing.
  • At 8:20 p.m., neighbor problems reported on Pleasant Street.
