OFF THE GRID Photography Exhibit @ the Cloister Gallery

The Cloister Gallery at St. Andrew’s Church is featuring the OFF THE GRID photography exhibition. The show will open with a reception on Sunday April 8th from 11:15am-12:30 p.m. and run through Thursday May 3, 2018. The Cloister Gallery at St. Andrew’s Church is located at 135 Lafayette St., Marblehead. The Gallery hours are M-F 9am-2pm, Sa 9-10:30am, Su 8am-12pm. The Gallery is handicapped accessible. OFF THE GRID is a photography exhibit aimed at changing the face of homelessness using photography. All of the photographs were taken by persons experiencing homelessness. They had varying backgrounds, but all were living and transitioning out of the Lynn Emergency Shelter, in Lynn Mass. They were loaned a camera and were trained to use a camera to tell their story and share their experience. With no specific direction of what to photograph, creativity and self-expression remained the underlying focus. “If only you could walk in my shoes” was a phrase that was frequently used by the photographers and reflected their desire for others to understand the hardship of homelessness.
